In compliance with Memorandum of Understanding on collaboration in the framework of “Coordination in Action” initiative between Ministry of Health and Social Development of RF and UNAIDS in RF a round table on implementation of methodological documents on HIV/AIDS and co-infections prevention, treatment, epidemiological and behavioural surveillance took place in Moscow on November 1, 2007.

About 100 people from 15 Russian regions took part in the work of the round table. Among them-representatives of Ministry of Health and Social Development of RF, Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare, Federal AIDS Centre, Russian Health Care Foundation, NGOs, heads of regional AIDS centres. Participants became familiarized with new methodological documents on organization of work of service for AIDS prevention and response in the Russian Federation, epidemiological surveillance, counter measures to AIDS infection, organization of medical assistance for HIV infected, organization of HIV prevention among various population groups.

Many times an incomplete and outdated normative base on HIV/AIDS response was mentioned among key obstacles on the way to achieving universal access to prevention, treatment, care and support in connection with HIV infection in Russia. A package of normative document presented at the round table is a significant step towards achieving universal access to prevention and treatment in Russia.
