Regular meeting of the Organizing Committee of the EECAAC

On March 3, 2008 a regular meeting of the Organizing Committee of the EECAAC took place in the Federal Service of Surveillance Over Customer Rights Protection and Human Well-Being.

The Organizing Committee meeting was devoted to the preparation of the Second EECCAC which will take place on May 3-5, 2008 in Moscow. The conference the main theme of which is “Expansion of access, prevention, treatment and support for all” will become the biggest forum devoted to the issue of the epidemic response in the region of Eastern Europe and Central Asia 2000 delegates from more than 50 states are expected to participate.

The Co-Chairs Michele Sidibe-Deputy Executive Director of UNAIDS, G. G. Onishchenko, Head of the Federal Service of Surveillance Over Customer Rights Protection and Human Well-Being, Michele Kazachkin, Executive Director of GFTAM, Creig MacClure, Executive Director of International AIDS Society, as well as other members of the Organizing Committee representing authorities, scientists, medical and public figures of Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and other CIS states took part in the meeting of the Organizing Committee.

Project of the conference agenda was adopted, chairs as well as plenary and parallel session themes were approved, organizational issues were discussed at the meeting. RF Government order #254-r of March 1, 2008 on allocation of USD 600.000 for preparation and holding of the EECAAC on May 3-5, 2008 in Moscow makes Russia the greatest conference donor and proves its political commitment to HIV response in the region and worldwide.

Over 1500 delegates took part in the first ECCAAC which was held in Moscow in 2006.
