All Russian Union of People Living with HIV has held a strategic planning meeting for 2010-2014

All Russian Union of People Living with HIV (AU PLHIV) with UNAIDS and UNDP support has held a strategic planning meeting. Organizational development till 2014 was discussed at three day working meeting in which participated twenty eight members of Coordination Council of AU PLHIV and representatives of other organizations of people living with HIV from Russia and Ukraine, as well as independent observers.  
 
Training of activists of AU PLHIV, improvement of effective organizational  management, presence of organization in all regions, resources for sustainable work should become a foundation of successful work. Meeting participants discussed necessity of design and implementation of a system of monitoring and evaluation of non-medical service and development of good partnership relations with Russian, foreign, and international organizations.   
 
Participation of AU PLHIV in design and implementation of effective campaigns to decrease stigma, discrimination, and violation of human rights, as well as monitoring cases of stigma, discrimination, and violation of human rights of people affected by HIV/AIDS became priority goals along with some others. Much attention was paid to widening of the circle of internal donors which fund the area of response measures to HIV.
 
 - Our main strategy, - comments Vladimir Mayanovskiy, Chair of Coordination Council of AU PLHIV, - aims at improving quality of life of everyone affected by the epidemic. We implement it on principles of openness, using our own potential, and involving new partners for solving crucial problems linked to HIV infection in Russia.     
 
Coordination Council of AU PLHIV made a decision on AU PLHIV joining Eastern European and Central Asian PLHIV. This decision was welcomed by Vladimir Zhovtyak, Chair of Eastern European and Central Asian PLHIV who attended the meeting.

Participation of AU PLHIV in XVIII International AIDS Conference 2010 which will take place in Vienna, Austria on July 18-23, 2010 was also discussed during the meeting.
