Round table in Orel Effective Collaboration of NGOs Working in the Area of HIV/AIDS in Orel and Social Responsibility of Business and Mass Media

The round table devoted to the topic of effective collaboration of governmental nonprofit organizations working in the area of HIV/AIDS and social responsibility of business and mass media. is organized by Orel AIDS Centre and “Phoenix Plus” NGO with support of All Russian Union of People Living with HIV and UNAIDS was held in Orel on October, 16.

 

Yuriy Morozov, Head of Office of Health Care of Department of Health Care and Social Development of Orel region, Valeriy Molotilov, Chief Physician of AIDS Centre, Alexandre Gorokhov, Chief Physician of “Regional Drug Abuse Clinic”, Alla Savenkova, Head of Regional Office of The Red Cross, Ekaterina Danilevskaya, Deputy Chief of Orel City Administration, Evgeniy Pisemskiy, Head of Orel public organization working in the area of HIV/AIDS “Phoenix Plus” took part in the work of the round table. Ekaterina Danilevskaya, Deputy Chief of Orel City Administration made a presentation “Epidemiological Particularities of HIV Infection in Orel Region”. Vladimir Mayanovskiy, Chair of All-Russian Union of People Living with HIV moderated a discussion. Representatives of mass media and business also took part in the work of the round table.   
 
 
“Stars Against AIDS” photo exhibition organized by UNAIDS was open on the same day in Orel City Cultural Centre. It comprises 25 panoramic portraits by a well-known photographer Serge Golovach. The exhibition united 25 actresses, journalists, editors, singers, athletes, and other famous Russian and Ukrainian women based on one principle-they care for health and future of their nations. They believe it to be their duty to publicly speak up about tolerance and reduction of stigma towards people living with HIV.  
 
 
Actresses Marina Alexandrova, Dina Korzun, singer Diana Gurtskaya, TV presenters Elena Khanga and Tatiana Mitkova, Olympic champion and State Duma Deputy Svetlana Khorkina, prima ballerina of the Bolshoi Theatre Svetlana Zakharova, and others are among the project participants.
 
The exhibition will be on from October 16 till October 24,  2009.
