Partnership Forum on HIV / AIDS
The Partnership Forum on HIV / AIDS in Russia was held in Moscow on April 15, 2010 in the World Bank. The main topic of discussion was the current state and prospects of HIV prevention among vulnerable groups, particularly injecting drug users.
Speakers from the non-profit partnership ESVERO, UNODC, Healthy Russia Foundation and other organizations reported on their activities in this field, highlighting key achievements, challenges, constraints and the creation of multi-stakeholder partnerships that influence the relevance and sustainability of ongoing work.
The meeting was attended by 40 representatives of state, non profit, and international organizations contributing to HIV response in the Russian Federation. Among them were representatives of federal ministries and departments, networks of people living with HIV, organizations working in the field of prevention of drug addiction and HIV infection and care for people affected by these problems, UN agencies, U.S. Agency for International Development and other organizations. Dr. Denis Broun, UNAIDS Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia made a welcome speech at the meeting.
Monitoring and evaluation of HIV prevention programmes among vulnerable groups and issues of HIV prevention among young people were chosen for discussion at the next meetings of Partnership Forum in 2010. Also it was advised that a working group on monitoring and evaluation of HIV prevention programmes would be established.
